Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a fixed stipend for imams of all 65,000 mosques in the province. She said relying on community donations for imams’ livelihoods is inappropriate. The government will now provide financial support to meet their basic needs and ensure their dignity.
The decision came during a meeting on law and order chaired by Maryam Nawaz. Officials briefed the CM on the growing praise from religious circles for government initiatives. They also confirmed that congregational prayers, including Friday prayers, are being held smoothly across the province.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that mosque imams are respected community leaders. She directed that mosque construction and repair projects be included in the annual development program and completed promptly. Officials also briefed her on arrangements for the upcoming Tablighi gathering.
Special measures have been taken to ensure safety and accessibility for the gathering. Roads leading to Raiwind have been repaired, and dedicated buses will transport participants. Security arrangements for the event are being made foolproof, she said.
