Punjab CM launches health screening programme for special children

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif took special measures for special children in Punjab, as she directed the authorities concerned to introduce a comprehensive health screening program for special education students for the first time in the province, under which health screening of more than 35,600 special children in Punjab including treatment, eye testing, dental examination and other diseases of more than 34,000 students studying in special education centers, and on-the-spot treatment of 20,000 students will be conducted.

She was briefed by the relevant authorities that best medical treatment facilities would be provided to more than 9,000 students in health centers, tehsil headquarters and district headquarters hospitals, while more than 5,000 students would be treated in hospitals of big cities.

Chief Minister Punjab was also apprised that a door-to-door campaign for admissions of special students across Punjab was successful as more than 5,000 new special students got admissions.

They said that under CM Punjab Freelancer Programme, special courses including Design and YouTube, Content Creation, Social Media and E-Commerce have been launched in Special Education Centers, where 10 state-of-the-art new computer labs have been approved, besides a decision to develop 08 existing labs on modern lines. They added that 18 master trainers and 1760 students have been trained under CM Punjab Freelancer Program. 50 students who secure first 50 positions during training will be given laptops.

They highlighted that 989 cameras would be installed in 142 Special Education Centers of Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan and DG Khan Divisions in Phase-I, whereas cameras will be installed in 158 Special Institutes of Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha and Sahiwal in Phase-II. 4381 cameras would be installed in total by next May. They underscored that these cameras installed in special education centers for the protection of special students would be linked to the central surveillance room in Lahore. Camera recordings in special education centers will also be used to analyze behavior of students for treatment and improvement. They flagged that 3450 cameras would be installed in special education centers by November to ensure the protection of special students.

Separately, Maryam Nawaz Sharif appreciated security forces for consigning to hell 25 terrorists. She paid tribute to the great sacrifice of 05 soldiers who were martyred in this operation against terrorists.
