ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that the people of Pakistan, especially those in Balochistan, must work together for national development. He said that collective effort and unity are essential for building a prosperous future for the country.
Addressing participants at a Balochistan workshop, the Prime Minister noted that Allah has blessed Balochistan with immense natural resources. However, he regretted that much of this wealth still lies untapped underground. He praised the province’s rich history, culture, and traditions, calling them unique and deeply rooted in Pakistan’s identity.
Shehbaz Sharif reminded that Baloch leaders had voluntarily decided to join Pakistan at the time of independence. He said the people of Balochistan have always been generous and hospitable, maintaining lasting harmony among different communities.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Balochistan’s geography poses challenges to development, particularly in providing electricity and roads to remote areas. He stressed that education and industry cannot progress without a strong road network.
He added that Balochistan’s progress is directly linked to Pakistan’s overall prosperity. Ignoring the province in past decades, he said, should serve as a moment for self-reflection. Citing the 2010 NFC Award, he noted that Punjab made a historic sacrifice for national unity. Shehbaz Sharif concluded by urging all Pakistanis to see themselves as one nation first and provincial residents later. He called on everyone to actively contribute to national progress, reaffirming that the people of Balochistan are brothers and essential partners in Pakistan’s journey of development.
