
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday announced a discounted electricity package for the industrial and agricultural sectors, aimed at boosting productivity, exports, and employment.
The prime minister unveiled the initiative during a meeting with experts and business community representatives from both sectors.
Under the package, additional electricity will be provided to industries and farmers at reduced rates for three years — from November 2025 to October 2028.

Shehbaz Sharif said the country’s economic indicators had improved due to the government’s prudent policies, adding that the journey from economic crisis to stability was challenging but made possible through the dedication of the economic team and cooperation from stakeholders.
Highlighting last year’s winter package, he noted that the industrial and agricultural sectors used 410 gigawatts of additional electricity, leading to increased exports and job creation.

The prime minister reiterated that industrial and agricultural growth are key to economic development, stressing that enhancing competitiveness and business facilitation in these sectors would help reduce the country’s debt burden.
