Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Vice Chairman of the National Technology Council (NTC), along with Lt. Gen. (R) Moazzam Ejaz, Rector of the National University of Technology (NUTECH), held important engagements with a high-level delegation from Malaysia. The delegation comprised Dr. Zairul Amri Zakaria and Dr. Hasril Hasini, who are serving as NTC’s mentors on the Sydney Accord. The distinguished visitors are in Pakistan to evaluate and review the existing policies, practices, and procedures related to the accreditation of engineering technology programs across the country.
The Sydney Accord (SA) is a globally recognized international educational framework operating under the International Engineering Alliance (IEA). It facilitates mutual recognition of engineering technology qualifications and professional competencies among member countries. Through this accord, engineering technology programs accredited in one signatory country are accepted as equivalent by other members, thereby promoting academic mobility, professional recognition, and global collaboration in technological education.
The visit marks a significant step toward aligning Pakistan’s engineering technology education system with international standards and enhancing the credibility and global acceptance of Pakistani graduates in the field of engineering technology.
