ABBOTTABAD — Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday told the Afghan Taliban to stop militant groups that use Afghanistan as a shelter to attack Pakistan.
He spoke at the passing-out parade of cadets at the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul. Munir said these proxy groups carry out terrible attacks inside Pakistan from Afghan land. He warned that Pakistan will crush every proxy and will protect every inch of its territory.
Tension has risen after several border clashes this week between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Dozens were killed and hundreds were injured on both sides. On the evening of October 15, both countries agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire. That ceasefire was extended on Friday, October 17, for another 48 hours and will stay in effect until the Doha talks end.

Pakistan says militants of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are present in Afghanistan with India’s support — a claim denied by Kabul and New Delhi.
Field Marshal Munir told people of Afghanistan to choose lasting security instead of endless violence. He praised Pakistan’s security forces and the public, especially people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, saying they will defeat this threat.

Referring to fighting with India in May, Munir said Pakistan proved its military strength and would give a strong reply to any future aggression. He criticized India over the Pahalgam attack, saying India made false accusations and avoided impartial investigations, turning terrorism into a political tool.
Munir thanked the nation for supporting the armed forces and said operations like Bunyān al-Marsūs strengthened public trust in the army. He promised that Pakistan will never give up an inch of its holy land.
