President meets Mohsin Naqvi amid Sindh-Punjab rift

Published on: October 7, 2025 3:59 PM

President Asif Ali Zardari has voiced serious concern over the rising tension between Sindh and Punjab governments. Late Monday night, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with the president at Bilawal House in Karachi. They discussed the political situation and the ongoing disputes between the two provincial governments. This meeting showed the urgency to address the growing conflict.

According to sources, President Zardari expressed worry about harsh statements from Punjab’s government and its spokespersons. He believes these comments are worsening the political environment. Therefore, he directed Mohsin Naqvi to intervene and help ease tensions. The president expects Naqvi to play a constructive role in resolving the conflict.

The tension has escalated over the past few days, marked by strong accusations from both sides. This political feud recently led the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to boycott parliamentary sessions in protest. These developments show the deep divide between the two powerful provinces. Many fear this discord could disrupt the country’s political stability.

Mohsin Naqvi’s involvement is crucial to bringing both parties back to dialogue. The president hopes Naqvi’s mediation will reduce hostility and foster cooperation. Both provincial governments need to find common ground to avoid further escalation. Calm and dialogue remain the best paths forward.
