Commissioner Sargodha Jehanzaib Awan, along with Deputy Commissioner Khushab Farwa Amir on Thursday visited the historic Kathwai Rest House, which has long been in a state of neglect despite its past significance as a lodging facility for government officials and dignitaries.
According to the Commissioner’s office spokesperson here, during the inspection, the commissioner expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the building and directed the concerned departments to prepare a comprehensive cost estimate for its repair and restoration without delay.
He stated that public-use facilities like rest houses are not only vital for administrative purposes but also carry historical and cultural importance. “Their preservation cannot be compromised,” he stated.
Officials from construction and allied departments accompanied the visit and were instructed to devise a coordinated strategy to restore the rest house to its original form.
