KARACHI – Two men accused of kidnapping and brutally murdering a seven-year-old boy in Landhi confessed to their crimes before a judicial magistrate on Friday. The court subsequently remanded them to jail.
The suspects, identified as Ahsan and Sohail Qureshi, were produced before the Judicial Magistrate (District East) after the expiry of their physical remand. Their confessional statements, recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, detailed the harrowing sequence of events.
Ahsan admitted that he had “gone astray” and killed the child out of fear of being exposed after assaulting him. He told the court that he struck the boy with a concrete block, strangled him while he was still alive, and hit him again until he succumbed. Qureshi also confessed to participating in the crime.
According to police, the boy’s body was discovered stuffed inside a sack in Landhi on September 18, the same day his family had reported him missing and lodged a kidnapping complaint at the local police station.
Outside the courtroom, the complainant’s counsel, Advocate Jahangir Kalhoro, said further investigation was crucial to ensure all perpetrators were brought to justice. The victim’s family echoed this demand, alleging that Qureshi’s wife and son-in-law were also complicit. They claimed it was the son-in-law who tipped off the Chhipa ambulance service about the body’s location.
The grieving family urged authorities to arrest the remaining suspects immediately, warning that failure to do so would embolden others to commit similar heinous crimes.
