Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has responded sharply to Sindh’s criticism on wheat supply and flood relief efforts. She questioned why the Sindh government is upset when Punjab is helping its own flood victims. Her remarks came after Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon’s recent press conference.
Azma said Punjab produces far more wheat than Sindh. She stated that Punjab has a surplus of 6.63 million metric tons, while Sindh faces a shortage of 3.19 million tons. She urged Sindh to manage its own wheat needs before complaining about Punjab’s distribution.

She also outlined Punjab’s farmer relief programs. According to her, Punjab gave Rs 55 billion in 2024 and Rs 98 billion in 2025 to support farmers. She noted that the agriculture budget is Rs 129.8 billion, and farmers made Rs 60 billion in purchases through the Kisan Card. Additionally, 9,500 tractors were distributed last year, and Rs 14 billion was spent on wheat support.
Azma stressed that Punjab is the country’s largest wheat producer and helps other provinces, while Sindh fails to meet its own needs. She criticized Sindh for not revealing what relief it has provided to its own flood-affected citizens, especially after previously politicizing disasters.
In closing, Azma Bukhari said Punjab will continue helping its people and cooperating with the federal government. However, she questioned why Sindh is uncomfortable when Punjab takes the lead in relief and development work.
