Senior lawyers voiced strong support for IHC judges who raised concerns about interference in judicial matters. They met in Islamabad and adopted a firm resolution to defend judicial independence and constitutional supremacy.

The convention included prominent figures like Aitzaz Ahsan, Latif Khosa, Syed Ali Zafar, Hamid Khan, and Gohar Ali Khan. They expressed solidarity with Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, who was recently stopped from performing his judicial duties.
The lawyers stressed that only the Supreme Judicial Council can review judges’ conduct. They rejected restrictions imposed through administrative orders and warned that sidelining Justice Jahangiri damaged the judiciary’s credibility.
They also questioned the status of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja. His legal term ended in January, yet he remains in office. The lawyers called this unconstitutional, arguing that it weakens democracy and undermines public trust in institutions.

Concluding the meeting, the lawyers demanded restoration of true democracy and revocation of the 26th Amendment. They vowed to continue defending IHC judges and protecting judicial independence as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s constitutional framework.
