US President Donald Trump met Muslim leaders, including Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during the 80th UN General Assembly session. Trump presented his plan to end the war in Gaza and called for cooperation to secure peace. The meeting included leaders from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, and Indonesia.
In his speech before the meeting, Trump said bringing hostages back is a top priority. He called the meeting very important and stressed the need to end a conflict that “should never have started.” Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim thanked Trump for hosting and said they came to stop the war and free prisoners. He expressed trust in US leadership to help Gaza’s people.

Trump’s peace plan proposes a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, deployment of a regional peace force, and an internationally supported reconstruction effort. The plan involves the Palestinian Authority but excludes Hamas, which both Washington and Tel Aviv want dismantled. Reports say Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was briefed on the plan’s outline.
The US aims to get Arab and Muslim countries to agree to send troops to Gaza to help Israeli forces withdraw safely. They also want to ensure funding for reconstruction. Before the meeting, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a lasting peace can only come through negotiations. He emphasized that Palestinians must govern their land but not use it to attack Israel.
