Kerosene oil has become more expensive in Pakistan following a recent hike in high-speed diesel prices. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced a Rs3.15 per litre increase in kerosene prices. The new rate is now Rs179.96 per litre, up from the previous Rs176.81.
OGRA issued a formal notification confirming the price adjustment. According to the notice, the new pricing takes effect immediately. The hike impacts households and small businesses, particularly in rural areas where kerosene is widely used.
This development follows the Finance Ministry’s late-night decision to increase high-speed diesel prices. Diesel now costs Rs2.78 more per litre from today. However, petrol prices remain unchanged for the next 15 days.
The government has not provided detailed reasoning behind the latest increase. But global oil market trends and currency fluctuations likely influenced the move. OGRA continues to review prices fortnightly based on international data.
Consumers have expressed frustration over the back-to-back price hikes. With inflation already affecting basic goods, rising fuel costs are expected to place more pressure on household budgets, especially in low-income areas.
