
Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that the government will show zero tolerance for artificial inflation in flood-hit areas, stressing that profiteering during crisis will not be allowed. During his visit to Kamalia’s flood-affected regions, he assured victims that immediate relief and rehabilitation remain the government’s top priority while strict monitoring measures will control unnecessary price hikes.
Speaking to the media, the finance minister explained that both the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal are visiting flood-affected areas to personally review the situation and coordinate effective response plans. He noted that the federal government has already declared an agricultural and climatic emergency, reflecting the seriousness of challenges posed by the ongoing disaster.
Aurangzeb confirmed that a detailed survey is underway to assess the full scale of destruction caused by recent floods. He emphasized that rehabilitation work will be guided by this survey to ensure fair compensation and timely assistance to affected families.
The minister highlighted that climate change remains a major challenge for Pakistan, requiring joint efforts by the federal and provincial governments. He assured that the government will consult with provinces to introduce sustainable strategies for dealing with recurring natural disasters.
Furthermore, Aurangzeb stressed that agriculture and population issues demand urgent reforms to reduce vulnerability. He vowed that the government will not allow hoarders or opportunists to exploit floods for illegal profit, promising strict action against artificial inflation across affected areas.
