PM Shehbaz Sharif arrives in China for SCO summit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with key ministers, has arrived in China for a six-day visit to attend the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. The delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information Ataullah Tarar, and Advisor Tariq Fatemi. The Prime Minister and his team received a warm welcome upon their arrival in China.

During the visit, Prime Minister Sharif will address the SCO Summit, where leaders from member countries will discuss key regional and global issues. The summit offers a platform for strengthening multilateral cooperation and regional peace, an area where the Prime Minister has emphasized Pakistan’s active participation.

On social media, Prime Minister Sharif shared that he would also participate in the 80th anniversary celebration of the victory in World War II in Beijing, alongside global leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping. He stressed the importance of enhancing Pakistan-China strategic partnerships, focusing on mutual cooperation for peace and prosperity in the region.

Additionally, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to discuss multifaceted aspects of the Pakistan-China relationship. Talks will cover economic, trade, and investment cooperation, particularly in the context of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Prime Minister Sharif’s visit highlights Pakistan’s continued commitment to strengthening ties with China. The two countries are expected to discuss progress on CPEC Phase-II, aiming to foster economic growth and regional stability.
