Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced a major change in its academic calendar. The new system will divide the academic year into two semesters. This change will initially apply to primary and middle school students. The decision aims to bring more structure to the academic year. It is a part of the government’s effort to improve education in the province.
The Summer Zone will follow a different schedule from the Winter Zone. In the Summer Zone, the Fall semester will run from September 1st to December 31st. The Spring semester will begin on January 16th and end on May 31st. This division aims to better align with weather patterns in the region. It also provides clear timelines for both students and teachers.
Meanwhile, the Winter Zone will have its own timetable. The Fall semester in this zone will start on August 1st and end by December 22nd. The Spring semester will then run from March 1st to June 30th. These dates are set to help schools adjust to the colder weather during the winter months. The new system will likely help streamline academic activities and ensure consistency.
The notification also details holiday schedules for both zones. In the Summer Zone, students will have holidays from January 1st to 15th and June 1st to August 31st. In the Winter Zone, holidays will fall from July 1st to 31st and December 16th to February 28th. These breaks are designed to fit local needs, ensuring better learning conditions year-round.
This shift in the academic calendar is expected to have a positive impact. It will bring better organization to schools and provide clearer academic timelines. Teachers and students can now plan their schedules with ease. The new system may also inspire other provinces to consider similar changes in the future.
