Ducky Bhai challenges physical remand in gambling app case

Published on: August 30, 2025 3:43 PM

YouTuber Ducky Bhai, real name Saadur Rehman, has filed an appeal against a Lahore magistrate’s decision to extend his physical remand. He is currently in custody of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which is probing his alleged role in promoting illegal online gambling apps. The appeal claims that the magistrate failed to fully examine the facts before granting remand.

Filed by lawyer Ch Usman Ali, the appeal was accepted for hearing by a Lahore sessions court. The court has asked the NCCIA to respond by Monday. Ducky Bhai has been in NCCIA custody since his arrest at the Lahore airport on August 17. His remand was most recently extended on August 28 until September 1.

The case was registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, and sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. Authorities allege that Ducky Bhai, along with other influencers, promoted betting and gambling apps for monetary gain. The case is based on a June 13 inquiry initiated after receiving information from “reliable sources.”

Meanwhile, Ducky Bhai’s wife, Aroob Jatoi, received an extension in her pre-arrest bail until September 15. She had filed for bail after receiving an inquiry notice from the NCCIA and expressed fear of arrest. The sessions court also barred the agency from arresting her and demanded a detailed report at the next hearing.

Aroob Jatoi has stated her willingness to cooperate with the investigation. Her first bail request was granted on August 21, and she has already appeared once for questioning. The case continues to develop, drawing public and legal attention alike.
