2 GB scouts martyred in Chilas attack; cop shot dead in Bannu

Unidentified miscreants attacked a checkpost Gilgit Baltistan Scouts in Gilgit, which resulting in the martyrdom of two soldiers and injuries to three of them.

The firing incident took place at 12.30 am last night. An emergency was already declared in the Regional Headquarters Hospital in Chillas.

The martyred GB Scouts were identified as Naib Subedar Khush Dad resident of Nagar, and Hawaldar Ashraf resident of Shagar. Deputy Commissioner Ataur Rehman Kakar said that the security forces had already cordoned off the area and started a search operation to apprehend the culprits.

Deputy Commissioner Diamir, Ataur Rehman Kakar said that the attack was carried out by unknown miscreants on the Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts 112 Wing checkpost in front of Chillas Hodar. Two GB Scouts soldiers have been martyred in the attack, while three soldiers were undergoing treatment in a hospital. Spokesman of Gilgit Baltistan government Faizullah Faraq said that Chief Minister of Gilgit Balistan has taken notice of the incident and directed authorities concerned to adopt all measures to apprehend the culprits. He said that security has been tightened in the area after the attack.

Separately, a policeman died when some armed assailants opened fire on him in Bannu.

The firing incident took place near Masjid Gul Zaman located in the jurisdiction of Cantonment Police Station Bannu. The dead policeman was later identified as Riaz Shah. Soon after the incident, the assailants fled from the scene.

Earlier on August 24, 2025, terrorists had attacked a police checkpoint in Bannu district. A fierce exchange of gunfire took place between the police and the terrorists during the attack on Darre Pull Checkpoint. A policeman was wounded in the terrorist attack and he was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
