Türkiye has officially ended all trade relations with Israel in response to its military actions in Gaza. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed the suspension during an emergency session of the Turkish Parliament on August 29. He stated that Turkish ships are now banned from docking at Israeli ports, and Israeli aircraft can no longer use Türkiye’s airspace. This decision follows months of growing tension over Israeli strikes on Palestinian territories.
Fidan accused Israel of committing genocide and violating basic human rights in Gaza. He said Israel’s operations have become one of the darkest chapters in modern history. The minister emphasized that Türkiye cannot remain silent while civilians in Gaza continue to suffer. He described Israel’s actions as an open challenge to global values and peace. Türkiye has now taken this firm step to hold Israel accountable.
The foreign minister also rejected any proposals for displacing Palestinians from Gaza. He said that any such suggestion, regardless of the source, is completely unacceptable to Türkiye. Fidan praised Palestinian resistance, calling it a symbol of hope for oppressed people worldwide. He added that Türkiye supports justice and human dignity in all conflict zones. The decision aims to increase pressure on Israel to halt its attacks.
Fidan also condemned Israeli military actions beyond Gaza, including strikes in Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and Iran. He labeled Israel a “terrorist state” that threatens the global order through its regional aggression. According to him, such attacks violate international law and must not go unchallenged. Türkiye believes peace can only come through justice and mutual respect. Therefore, it urges the international community to take stronger action.
In conclusion, Türkiye has taken a bold diplomatic and economic stance against Israel. It has cut trade ties, blocked port access, and banned airspace use for Israeli aircraft. The move highlights Türkiye’s growing frustration with global inaction over the Gaza crisis. As the humanitarian situation worsens, Ankara continues to position itself as a strong voice for Palestinian rights.
