Pakistan’s tobacco exports soar over 150% in FY25

Published on: August 6, 2025 1:16 PM

Pakistan’s tobacco exports saw a remarkable increase of 158.31% during the fiscal year 2024-25, reaching $166.5 million compared to $64.5 million the previous year, official data shows. This sharp rise reflects strong global demand for Pakistani tobacco products.

In volume terms, tobacco exports grew by 140.18%, rising from 43,520 metric tons in FY24 to 104,282 metric tons in FY25. This surge demonstrates not only higher export value but also a significant increase in the quantity shipped abroad during the year.

The growth trend continued in June 2025, when tobacco exports jumped by 303.92% compared to June 2024. The exports for June reached $7.985 million, up from just $1.977 million the year before, showing a strong monthly performance.

Additionally, tobacco exports in June 2025 rose by 16.28% compared to May 2025, which saw $6.867 million in exports. This steady month-on-month growth indicates sustained momentum for tobacco shipments heading to foreign markets.

Overall, Pakistan’s exports grew by 4.67% in FY25, with total exports reaching $32.106 billion, compared to $30.675 billion in FY24. Meanwhile, imports increased by 6.57%, rising from $54.779 billion to $58.380 billion during the same period.

This increase in tobacco exports highlights a positive development for Pakistan’s trade balance and export sector, encouraging further growth and diversification of the country’s export portfolio in the coming years.
