The Ministry of Finance has once again imposed a ban on issuing supplementary grants during the current fiscal year. It clearly stated that no additional funds will be released beyond the approved budget passed by Parliament. This decision reflects the government’s commitment to controlling unnecessary spending and ensuring better financial discipline.
The finance ministry has issued a circular to all federal ministries and divisions. The circular outlines that funds for ad-hoc relief allowances have already been provided, and ministries are expected to manage within the allocated budget. Any reallocation of funds for a different purpose must receive prior approval.
Moreover, the finance ministry stressed that no funds—other than the approved budget—can be used for unrelated expenditures. The only exception allowed is in case of severe natural disasters, where a supplementary grant may be considered. This move aims to ensure transparency and reduce misuse of public funds.
Officials confirmed that these financial control measures will not only apply to the current fiscal year but also to upcoming years. By implementing this long-term policy, the ministry hopes to enforce stronger budget discipline across all government departments. This step is part of a broader strategy to stabilize the national economy.
Last year, the Ministry of Finance also imposed a similar restriction, refusing to approve extra grants outside the sanctioned budget. That move was praised for helping curb unnecessary spending. With this year’s decision, the government continues to prioritize financial responsibility over politically motivated or ad-hoc spending requests.
