Rain-related death toll in Pakistan rises to 291

Published on: July 31, 2025 5:28 PM

In the past 24 hours, two more children have died due to rain-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), both children drowned, pushing the nationwide rain death toll to 291. A total of 698 people have also been injured across the country due to ongoing monsoon rains.

The NDMA report shows that Punjab remains the hardest-hit province, with 158 fatalities and 556 injuries. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 66 people have died and 81 were injured. In Sindh, 28 lives have been lost and 40 individuals injured. Rain-related disasters have also taken a toll in other regions.

In Balochistan, 20 people died and 4 were injured. In Gilgit-Baltistan, 9 people died and 4 were hurt, while Azad Kashmir reported 2 deaths and 10 injuries. Islamabad saw 8 fatalities and 3 injuries. The monsoon season has impacted nearly every region of the country.

Of the 291 total deaths, 102 were men, 51 were women, and 138 were children. Among the injured, 263 were men, 199 women, and 236 children. The floods have also damaged 1,584 houses and killed 376 livestock, adding to the growing humanitarian toll.

As heavy rainfall continues in many parts of the country, the NDMA has urged citizens to remain cautious and follow official safety guidelines. Relief efforts are underway, but the damage from the persistent monsoon season is severe and widespread.
