Balochistan cabinet abolishes free exemption for arm licenses

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a cabinet meeting at the Chief Minister Secretariat in which several decisions related to the overall development of the province, effective governance, public welfare and security were approved.

This was said by the spokesperson of the Balochistan government Shahid Rind in briefing the media about the decisions of the meeting in a press conference.

He said that the cabinet has decided to activate non-hospitals of the health department in some areas of the province with the assistance of the Pakistan Army so that basic medical facilities could be provided to the citizens at their doorsteps.

The cabinet, taking an important decision for the improvement of the agricultural sector, approved the provision of agricultural tractors to farmers at a fifty percent subsidy, he said.

He said that at the same time, in the light of the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the upgrading of the trend crop reporters of the agriculture department from grade 6 to grade 11 was also approved. For the improvement of the energy sector, the cabinet has formed a committee consisting of the Secretary Finance and the Secretary Energy for the technical and financial review of 150 kW solar projects in Lasbela and Hub, a high-level committee was formed.

Shahid said that the meeting approved the establishment of the Balochistan Mineral Development Fund, which would play an important role in the transparent use of mineral resources and promotion of investment.

In addition, the Balochistan Contribution Pension Scheme Rules 2025 were approved so that a structured and sustainable pension system can be developed for government employees and to prevent the increasing non-development budget in the coming time, he said.

He said that the cabinet has decided to make the laptop policy more effective and better to promote digital education.

Similarly, recruitments on vacant posts in all departments of the province, including the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, have been approved so that employment opportunities could be created to improve law and order, the cabinet approved the establishment of two new police stations in Kohlu, additional security for Mangi Dam, establishment of CTD police stations in Rakhni and Barkhan and changes in CTD limits in Loralai and Sibi.

Amendments to the Arms License Rules have been approved, free exemption has been abolished, he noted.

He said that while a comprehensive policy for the security of ministers, advisors and members of the assembly has also been approved, 20 acres of land leased to a private medical institute was withdrawn at the request of the federal government.

The spokesman noted that the appointment of Kiran Baloch as the Chairperson of the Balochistan Commission on the Status of Women was approved for the promotion of women’s rights, the adjustment of intern teachers of Makran and Kech was approved for progress in the education sector.

While the proposed rules of the Excise and Taxation Department and the Journalists Welfare Amendment Rules related to the welfare of journalists were also approved, he stated.

According to spokesperson Shahid Rind, all these decisions reflect the vision of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, which is focused on establishing an empowered, secure, developed and people-friendly Balochistan.

He said that the Balochistan government is committed to the principles of transparency, merit and public service and the fruits of these decisions would soon start reaching the people.
