Pakistani superstar Humayun Saeed has shared a fascinating story from 2005 when he unexpectedly performed alongside Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta at the Zee Cine Awards in London. The actor revealed the behind-the-scenes moment during his recent appearance on the Geo Podcast.
Humayun recalled that he was invited to the awards show along with several fellow Pakistani actors including Fakhr, Adnan Siddiqui, Aijaz Aslam, Faisal Qureshi, and a few female stars. At the time, he had no idea he would be part of a dance performance with Bollywood’s biggest names. Aboard the flight to London, Fakhr jokingly said, “Imagine Shah Rukh calls you on stage to dance!” Humayun laughed it off—until the joke became reality.
As soon as they landed in London, Humayun was separated from the group and told he would be rehearsing for a performance with Shah Rukh and Preity. “That’s when I told Fakhr—your joke came true!” he said, laughing. What followed was a surreal rehearsal where Shah Rukh personally taught him the dance steps, treating him like an old friend.
Humayun described the Bollywood superstar as extremely kind and humble. “He made me feel completely at ease. When I told him I had no idea what I was doing, he himself showed me the steps,” he said. The performance was a hit. At the event the next day, a crowd of 50,000 to 60,000 people gave them a standing ovation as they danced to songs from Veer-Zaara.
The dance, which also featured Pakistani actress Reema, became one of the highlights of the 2005 Zee Cine Awards. It was a rare and memorable moment of cross-border cultural collaboration, and Humayun’s story has reignited fans’ excitement about that golden era of South Asian entertainment.
