Pakistan has strongly urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take immediate action for a permanent and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. Speaking at the UNSC’s open debate on the Middle East, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted the urgent need for global intervention to end the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Dar called for swift international steps to deliver essential food and medical aid to Gaza. He emphasized that restoring humanitarian supply lines is critical to prevent worsening famine conditions and save civilian lives. He also stressed the importance of protecting infrastructure and ensuring safe access for aid workers across the region.
In addition, Pakistan urged the international community to renew and strengthen its support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). According to Dar, the agency remains a vital lifeline for millions of Palestinians and must be fully equipped to continue its humanitarian mission. He warned against the consequences of underfunding or politicizing aid efforts.
The Deputy Prime Minister also condemned Israel’s ongoing actions, including forced displacements and illegal settlement expansion in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. He reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance that such activities must end immediately, in line with international law and UN resolutions.
Dar welcomed the growing global support for recognizing Palestinian statehood and granting Palestine full UN membership. He urged all nations to join this movement and stand with the people of Palestine in their struggle for justice, dignity, and sovereignty.
Furthermore, he addressed broader regional concerns, expressing Pakistan’s support for Syria’s political stabilization through inclusive dialogue. He demanded Israel’s withdrawal from the Syrian Golan Heights under UNSC resolutions and voiced support for the UN-led peace process in Yemen, especially efforts by Saudi Arabia and Oman.
