Published on: July 14, 2025 9:30 PM

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reached Beijing on a significant official visit to China, where he will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. The meeting, which will be held in Tianjin on Monday, brings together top diplomats from all SCO member states to discuss key regional and global issues.

According to Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, Ishaq Dar was received at the airport by Yu Hong, Director-General for Asian Affairs at the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Also present at the airport to welcome him were Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil-ur-Rehman Hashmi, and senior officials of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, highlighting the warm diplomatic ties between the two countries.

During his visit, Ishaq Dar will not only represent Pakistan at the SCO platform but will also participate in several bilateral meetings with his counterparts from member countries including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and others. These discussions are expected to cover matters such as economic cooperation, regional security, trade connectivity, counterterrorism, and climate resilience.
