Pakistan Railways is all set to launch a modern business-class train service between Karachi and Lahore later this week. The new train, aimed at frequent travellers, especially professionals and businesspeople, promises a smooth, fast, and tech-enabled journey. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to inaugurate the service on July 19 in Lahore.
The train will have 28 air-conditioned coaches fully equipped with digital systems and advanced passenger services. Travellers will benefit from free high-speed Wi-Fi, onboard entertainment screens, and comfortable seating designed for long-distance travel. The coaches also feature USB charging ports and smart lighting systems, adding to the premium feel.
In addition, the train will include an international-standard dining car with an upgraded menu and improved food service. Passengers can expect freshly prepared meals, snacks, and beverages throughout the journey, along with attentive onboard staff. The service is expected to run daily, making it a reliable option for intercity commuters.
Officials say this launch is a key step in Pakistan Railways’ long-term modernisation strategy. Along with improved safety measures and faster ticketing options, the department is focused on restoring public confidence in train travel. The initiative also aims to reduce the pressure on domestic flights and highways between Karachi and Lahore.
With enhanced comfort and smart features, this train sets a new standard for rail travel in Pakistan. If the project succeeds, similar luxury routes could soon be introduced between other major cities, such as Islamabad, Multan, and Quetta.
