Heavy monsoon rains have wreaked havoc across Balochistan, causing casualties and significant property damage. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed that seven people lost their lives, and seven others were injured in multiple accidents during the recent storms. The severe weather and flash floods damaged 22 houses across various districts.
In Washuk district, flash flooding completely destroyed five homes and severely damaged agricultural lands, leaving many families displaced. Stormy winds in Loralai and Surab also caused widespread damage, particularly to solar panels and residential structures, disrupting power supplies. A lightning strike tragically killed one person in Musa Khel.
PDMA officials are conducting surveys to estimate further losses and have launched relief operations to assist affected residents. The monsoon spell, currently active across Balochistan and other regions, is forecasted to continue until July 10, bringing the risk of additional heavy rainfall and floods.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued flood warnings for local rivers and streams in several regions, including Murree, Galiyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, and parts of Punjab and Kashmir. Low-lying urban areas such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Gujranwala are at risk of waterlogging and flooding. Additionally, hilly areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir face landslide dangers due to persistent heavy rain.
Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious, stay informed, and take safety measures as emergency teams stand ready for rescue and relief operations.
