Shadab, Rauf out as Pakistan unveils squad for Bangladesh t20 series

Published on: July 8, 2025 4:24 PM

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Bangladesh, scheduled from July 20 to 24 in Dhaka. The series will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, marking a reciprocal tour after Bangladesh’s recent three-match T20 series in Lahore, which Pakistan lost.

Salman Ali Agha will continue as captain for the series, leading a mix of experienced players and emerging talents. Notably, key all-rounders Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf have been ruled out due to injuries, leaving the door open for fresh faces and bench strength to prove their mettle.

The squad features a balanced lineup with fast bowlers like Ahmed Daniyal and Mohammad Abbas Afridi, spinners Abrar Ahmed and Sufyan Moqim, and a strong batting unit including Fakhar Zaman, Khushdil Shah, and Mohammad Nawaz, who makes a return after a long injury break. The team also has two wicketkeepers, Mohammad Haris and Sahibzada Farhan, to provide flexibility behind the stumps.

This series is important for Pakistan as it offers a chance to rebuild confidence and fine-tune combinations ahead of future international fixtures. The PCB also announced that the squad for the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies will be revealed soon.

Pakistan will play the three T20 matches on July 20, 22, and 24, all at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium with the toss and play starting at 6:00 pm local time. Fans eagerly await the performances as Pakistan aims to bounce back from recent defeats and strengthen its position in international T20 cricket.
