Senior politician Javed Hashmi visited Adiala Jail to express his support for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. He told the media that no one can reduce Imran Khan’s significance or impact in Pakistani politics. Hashmi emphasized that he came to show solidarity and stressed the importance of upholding the constitution for the country’s progress.
Hashmi said Imran Khan is not demanding special treatment or release but insists on the rule of law and justice. He believes the country can move forward only if the constitution is respected. Hashmi also admitted that he distanced himself from Imran Khan in the past, especially when Khan got too close to the military leadership.
Criticizing the current political landscape, Hashmi said there are hardly any true political parties left that uphold democracy and constitutional values. He pointed out that anyone ignoring these principles is not truly doing politics. Despite his views, Hashmi clarified he is neither officially with PTI nor against it but supports democratic ideals.
This visit and Hashmi’s remarks come at a time when Pakistan’s political environment remains tense, and Imran Khan continues to face legal and political challenges.
