TikTok has announced the introduction of new features aimed at improving users’ mental health. The company shared the update through a blog post, detailing various tools designed to support users, particularly younger audiences, in managing their well-being.
The new features will include guided meditation exercises and tools to enhance personal development. These features were first tested earlier this year with a small group of users and are now being rolled out to a broader audience. TikTok aims to provide accessible resources that encourage mental and emotional wellness among its users.
One notable addition is a feature designed to improve users’ sleep quality. The feature will activate during nighttime hours to encourage healthier sleep habits. For users under 18, this feature will be turned on by default, aiming to limit screen time during late hours.
Additionally, TikTok will send prompts to users under 18 who are active on the “For You” feed after 10 PM, suggesting meditation exercises to help them wind down. If users continue to use the app, a full-screen reminder will appear, offering further meditation suggestions. TikTok has partnered with a meditation app to facilitate this feature.
Along with the mental health initiatives, TikTok is also rolling out educational content, new online safety tools, and expanded parental controls for managing screen time. These new measures reflect the company’s commitment to fostering a safer, more supportive environment for all users.
With these new features, TikTok continues to prioritize user well-being, blending entertainment with mindfulness and safety.
