The upcoming T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh faces possible delays due to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) being shifted from Pakistan to Dubai. This change, combined with rising regional tensions, has raised serious doubts over the timely arrival of the Bangladesh team, which was originally scheduled to land on May 21.
Initially, the five-match T20I series was set to begin on May 25 in Faisalabad, with the Bangladesh squad arriving in two groups. However, the relocation of the PSL and the potential extension of its schedule may interfere with the national team’s preparation and venue readiness for the series.
Sources suggest that logistical issues surrounding the PSL’s move could push the tournament’s final beyond its original May 18 date. As a result, Pakistan’s preparation window for the Bangladesh series could shrink, making it difficult to start on time.
Additionally, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is facing internal challenges as some players have expressed concerns over traveling to Pakistan due to recent geopolitical developments. These security-related worries could further complicate the tour plans if not addressed quickly.
Despite these concerns, both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and BCB are working together to find a solution. The series is part of the ICC’s Future Tours Programme (FTP), and officials remain hopeful about finding an alternate schedule if delays become unavoidable.
Bangladesh has already announced its T20I squad for their back-to-back series against the UAE and Pakistan. Litton Das will lead the side, with Mahedi Hasan serving as vice-captain. The squad includes experienced players like Mustafizur Rahman and Soumya Sarkar.
