Finance minister leads delegation at ADB summit

ISLAMABAD – Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Senator Ishaq Dar arrived in Frankfurt on Sunday to lead the Pakistan delegation at the Annual Meeting of the board of governors of Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The minister was received by the officials of German government, Pakistan Embassy and ADB officials upon arrival. Dar later attended a special briefing session arranged by the Pakistan Embassy where he notified the event schedule of the ADB meeting and his engagements on the sidelines of the main event.

According to a press statement issued by the Ministry for Finance on Sunday, the ADB meeting will officially open on 2nd may with discussion on Germany’s Energy Transition. The minister is scheduled to meet the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) delegation along with the Pakistan delegation on opening day of the conference.

He will later attend meeting on Regional Infrastructure for Development of Afghanistan besides participating in panel discussion on Asia-Europe Economic Cooperation. Dar along with Pakistan delegation will also attend the Host Country Reception.

During the course of the four-day event, the minister will interact with various finance ministers and delegations worldwide, on the sidelines of the main event, the statement said. He will also participate in seminars and panel discussions on the topics of ‘Structural Reforms: Pathways to Sustainable Growth’, ‘How Trade, Technology and New Business Models are shaping Asia’s Quest for Good Jobs’ and other subjects, it said.
