KARACHI: The last day of the Bridal Couture Week (BCW) – Gold Edition proved that the fashion week is not only a crowd pleaser because of the endless talent it displays to the country’s fashion enthusiasts. Nickie Nina Designer duo Nickie Nina began Day 3’s Act 1 presenting some fresh takes on classic designs, using conventional reds with a range of pastels. They played with many textures – we saw silks, jamawar, organza and velvet with zardozi and zari work fused with crystal work. We saw some floral patterns on dreamy and easy silhouettes – consider your wedding wardrobe sorted! Pretty and bang on trend! Rang Ja Next up was Rang Ja, which showcased a collection full of decorative patterns in vibrant tones and ethnic cuts. Models made quite the statement twirling their lehngas at the show. The outfits were fun, quirky but wearable – rock your dholaks with Rang Ja’s preppy collection. Singer/actor Junaid Khan showstopped for the designer brand. Their collection was titled Mela. Emraan Rajput Karachi-based designer Emraan Rajput’s collection The Royal Raj featured groom’s wear. Motifs, inspired by the Mughal era were placed on sherwanis. Celebrities including Yasir Mazhar, Sami Khan, Agha Ali and Zahid Ahmed showstopped for the designer. The colour palette used was subtle. Aisha Imran Aisha Imran showcased her Miratul Uroos collection, which was a mix of Anarkali dresses, angrakhas, Lucknowi ghararas and lehngas with gota work. Her creations are ideal for the summer brides bearing shades of gold, ivory, peach, pink, reds and green. The collection showcased some beautiful bridals in heritage designs. Asifa & Nabeel Asifa & Nabeel closed Act 1 of Day 3 with their collection Lavender Fields, which reflected a modern evolution of the Pakistani bride showcasing a collection of pale bluish and purple hues. It was like taking a walk into wonderland to witness your fairytale being handcrafted into a pretty ensemble. Amir Adnan Amir Adnan began Act 2 with his collection that encapsulated statement jackets and sherwanis paired with Jodhpur-esque pyjamas and luxurious shalwars. Menswear is often ignore when it comes to fashion in our industry but this trendy collection will gratify dapper men, who like to be experimental. The bridals were pretty and trendy. The star-studded runway had the crowd magnetised. Designers Kamiar Rokni and HSY, actors Ahsan Khan, Noor Hassan, Javed Sheikh, Shahzad Sheikh, Sarwat Gilani, Ali Safina, Adnan Siddiqui, Azfar Rahman, Fahad Mirza and Aijaz Aslam, model and DJ Hira Tareen and VJ Waqar Zaka showstopped for the designer. GRAND COUTURIERS The Grand Couturiers segment was undoubtedly the most anticipated showcase of the night that brought together eight designers; Kamiar Rokni, Élan, Nida Azwer, Sania Maskatiya, Umar Sayeed, Zara Shahjahan, Shamaeel Ansari and Sherezad Rahimtoola. The segment featured two bridals from each designer. SONYA BATTLA Sonya Battla’s debut collection for BCW featured silhouettes that were simple. It was the grand finale, which came with a special message. It paid tribute to the burnt victims and Smile Again Foundation. The showstoppers were actors Humayun Saeed and Sohai Ali Abro. Sohai was dressed in a red ethnic ensemble.
