Security agencies start probe against Shaheen Air

Published on: June 2, 2016 1:04 AM

ISLAMABAD: The prime security agencies of the country has taken a notice of illegal flight operation of Shaheen Air International and launched a thorough probe in the dubious affairs of the company, a well informed source told Daily Times on Wednesday.

The security organizations have started probe against Shaheen Air on an investigative report appeared in this paper a day before where in the corruption and shoddy business of Shaheen Air was highlighted.

Our sensitive institutions are probing this issue why Shaheen Air had continued its flight operation without taking security clearance from the concerned quarters which was mandatory before launching the operation.

The owners of Shaheen Air are Canadian nationals who are allegedly playing havoc with the Pakistani citizen through continued flight operation by faulty and old vintage crafts.

It has been established that owners of Shaheen Air are involved in money laundering and that business is being done through courier companies set up in Middle East.

The money from Pakistan has been taken through these courier companies and then being deposited in off shore companies, a well informed source further told.

Khyber Travel Dubai and Spinax Textile Mills Dubai are hand in gloves with Shaheen Air in money laundering and so far more than one billion rupees has been sent by means of money laundering.

The investigative report pointed out that amount earned from ticket sale in Iran and Saudi Arabia was being transferred to Canada.

A senior aviation officer told that government would be unable to take punitive action against Shaheen Air because the government had already allowed it to carry on its business in Pakistan without taking permission.

Shaheen Air flight operation without security clearance certificate has also put the lives of the travelers in peril because if some day untoward incidence might be happened then insurance claims could not be entertained.

According to insurance law a company could not claim of its loss when it carried out illegal and unlawful business.

Civil Aviation Authority can be put in trouble on its behalf as it has partially permitted the Shaheen Air to carry on its operation which is totally illegal act and could not be established in any court of law. The security agencies have flexed their muscle and has attained the record of their foreign guests who had visited Pakistan and stayed in Shaheen Air crew hut which now converted into residence.

The source revealed that some prime security personals have taken the record of the company into their own custody and the document s are browsing for reaching at the bottom of this huge financial corruption scandal.

The sources of the industry told that Shaheen Air possesses old age aircrafts that could put the lives of its travelers in danger and he called upon the government to take correction action for ensuring the safety of the travelers.

Custom Authority of Pakistan has also started pursuing vigorously the tax evasion case worth of 4 billion rupees filed against the management of Shaheen Air. The record of the airline shows that it is showing less travelling load than the actual figure in order to evade tax but our astute custom officers have now detected their corruption using modern technique.

Daily Times approached management of Shaheen Air International for its views over their illegal flight operation but the management was not reluctant to comment over this issue.
