LAHORE: The sit-in protest of Punjab Teachers Union (Ghulam Muhiud Din Group) in front of Punjab Assembly, which was held to support their demands against the Punjab government, has entered the third day on Sunday. The teachers, through their protest, have put forward a ‘charter of demand’ in front of the government and demanded withdrawal of its decision regarding privatisation of the government schools. They warned the government that their protest would continue until the acceptance of their just demands. The protesting teachers lamented that not a single government official has contacted them to resolve this matter, adding that the PTU was always ready to negotiate with the government. Chief organiser of the protest, Allah Rakha Gujjar, said that they would not go back homes until the government addressed their grievances, including handing over of schools to Punjab Education Fund (PEF) and Danish School Authority, unjustified punishments to teachers and revision of their scales.
