NAB starts probe against Kundi

Published on: June 9, 2016 12:04 AM

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau has started investigation against former Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Khan Kundi regarding the allotment of a plot for a cinema in commercial hub, G-9 Markaz, Karachi Company, of the federal capital.

Reliable sources said that NAB Rawalpindi had got some important evidences against Kundi regarding the plot reserved for a cinema and the plot allotment to his front men. On the basis of these proofs NAB had also started a probe against the investigation officer Shahzad who had declared Faisal Kundi innocent in the case previously. The most interesting feature of the whole episode was that the plot for the construction of a cinema was restored on the application of such a person, who did not even know about it. When NAB connected the original person who moved the application for restoration of the plot but he was astonished to know the entire saga. He told NAB that neither did he give any application nor did he have any link with the matter. He said that he did not give any application for relief in the court. The investigation officer Shahzad had stated that the case was dead and closed the file. But when the investigation officer was changed then the probe turned to some new outlines and it was revealed that the plot for the cinema was allotted to two workers who were working at the petrol pump of Faisal Kundi. When NAB officials investigated about the assets and bank accounts of Faisal Karim Kundi, many secrets were unearthed about the restoration and sale of the cinema’s plot. The sources told this scribe that there was no ambiguity as to how the plot was restored and how the allotment was made and soon the case would be resolved.

When CDA was contacted on the issue, a responsible position holder said that they had handed over the record of the case He said that when NAB asked for any assistance, CDA always extended its full cooperation. Faisal Karim Kundi was elected MNA on the ticket of Pakistan Peoples Party and then he was elected Deputy Speaker National Assembly. During his tenure in the office, he not only restored the precious plot reserved for the construction of the cinema clandestinely but he also allotted the same to his servants.
