Extension of Rangers’ term under ambit of constitution: Qaim

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the extension of Ranger’s term is a constitutional authority and its objectives to be achieved under the ambit of constitution.

He said this while presiding over a high-level meeting on law and order situation. The chief minister on Tuesday reached Larkana to reduce ongoing tension between the Rangers and Larkana Police as well as Siyal over the issues of alleged corruption facilitator Asad Kharal.

Sources said that a tug of war erupted after accused Asad Kharal was freed from the custody of Rangers by Larkana Police and influential, which led a new rift between Sindh government and paramilitary agencies as well as Sindh Home Minister Sohail Siyal.

The Sindh CM visited the house of Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal after personal meeting with him and presided over a meeting at Commissioner Office Larkana. He also congratulated Sindh High Court CJ Justice Syed Sajad Ali Shah for recovery of his son by the Pakistan Army.

Sindh chief minister said that PPP Central Executive Committee consultation is underway extending the term of Rangers for law and order situation in province.

The law and order situation in Karachi is much better than before, we have provided latest trainings to police and equipped them with modern weapons, so that they will be provided with latest weapons to combat the criminal elements, he said.

CM Qaim Ali Shah said that they had a meeting with chief of army staff and after help of Pakistan Army, further actions on law and order situation have been improved in Sindh. He also congratulated Pakistan Army for the safe recovery of Syed Awais Shah, the son of Sindh High Court chief justice.

The Sindh CM said that the law and order problem is a key objective for Sindh government and the metropolitan city witnessing four kinds of heinous crimes among terrorism, extortion, target killing and kidnapping for ransom adding that two terrorist incidents happened in Jacobabad and Shikarpur whose accused have also been nabbed.

He categorically denied about any clash between Sindh government and law enforcement agencies and said that Sindh Police is carrying out operations against the criminals in province, while in Karachi, the Rangers and police are conducting joint operations.

Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah informed that apex committee is formed in Sindh and Sindh governor, three ministers, corps commander; DG Rangers are its members.

The committee members are taking important decisions but yet there is no issue regarding Larkana Police and Tariq Siyal, as the issue was resolved in apex committee’s meeting, he said.

The meeting was attended by Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal, Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Shah, Larkana Commissioner Inamullah Dharejo, DIG Larkana, Abdullah Sheikh, deputy commissioners and
SSPs of five districts of Larkana division.
