LAHORE: The dead body of a student belonging to Kinnaird College was found in a local hotel at The Mall on Friday. The deceased girl, identified as 25-year-old Rabia Naseer, was resident of Batapur and cricket team captain of her college. The woman was found shot in the neck inside one of the rooms of the hotel, frequented by foreigners and political elite. Her body was moved to the morgue for an autopsy. The hotel administration immediately called the police after a waiter witnessed the blood-soaked body lying on the bed. Police investigators say they also recovered a handbag, pistol, and bullets from the room. It was not clear yet who called the lady to the hotel room, where she was discovered dead. The police asked the hotel administration to provide them complete record of the person who booked the room. A police officer that visited the crime scene said they were investigating to find out whether the lady was murdered in cold blood by someone or she took her own life by shooting herself in the neck. No case was registered with the Race Course police till filing of this report. Further investigations were underway. Separately, three members of a family, including a young girl, lost their lives after being electrocuted, while two others received serious injuries in Shahdra area on Friday. The deceased included 60-year-old Sharif, his 30-year-old son Ashafaq, and 18-year-old daughter Muqaddas, residents of Madina Town, Shahdra. According to rescue officials, a woman, while keeping a cot made up of iron pipes at the rooftop of her house, accidentally touched a high-tension wire, getting an electric shock. Upon being informed, her husband Mohammad Sharif, son Ashfaq and daughter Muqaddas died while trying to rescue her. The woman and her son, Nawaz, fortunately survived the incident but received serious injuries during the incident. Rescue teams shifted the injured mother and son to a hospital for treatment. The victims were discharged after being provided first aid treatment. Police handed over the dead bodies to their heirs after completing legal formalities.
