KARACHI: The Sindh Fisheries Department has decided to impose a heavy fine on at least 33 fishing trawlers who fail to return to harbours before May 31. The Maritime Security Agency has also furnished a detailed report containing departure and arrival date of the fishing trawlers. The agency has recommended penalising the fishing trawlers so that they could abide by rules and regulation in the future. Earlier, the fisheries department had imposed a ban on all king of fishing in sea for a period of two months (June to July) to encourage production of fish species. All the fishermen were instructed to return to harbours before May 31. However, around 33 fishermen failed to anchor their fishing trawlers on time and all the trawlers arrived back in the mid-June. Maritime Security Agency Commanding Officer Wajid Nawaz had forwarded a letter to Karachi Fish Harbour Authority managing director informing him about the violation of rules by the fishermen “Apropos reference B, fishing trawlers were to return from sea on May 31, 2016 due to expiry of Port Clearance. However, scrutiny of record shows violation by few trawlers (PC),” according to a letter exclusively available with Daily Times. “In view of aforesaid, it is recommended that punitive action like cancellation of fishing permits of violators may please be taken under intimation to this office”, the letter added. According to documents, the trawlers who arrived late at the harbor included Faizan-e-Qadri Baba Misri Sarkar, F Q Hazrat Jilani Sakhi Sarkar, Al Moosa, Umer Sufiyan, Safina e Sajid, Al Qaswa, Al Imran, SAfina e Khizar, Khawja Gharib Nawaz, FEQ Hazrat Mumtaz Qadri Ghazi, Faizan-e-Qadri, FEQ Sarkar Hazrat Sabzwari, Shah-e-Mairaj, F Qadri Hazrat Abdul Haq, Hashmi Anwar-e-Mustafa, Ghaib Shah, F Qadri Hazrat Imam Ahmad, FQ Hazrat Baba Farid, Al Qamar, S E Pashin, Zulqarnain, Ibn-e-Arabi, Qasmi Noor, Safina-e-Adnan, Osama Kamil, Al Rehman, Safina-e-Shahzad, Faizan-e-Qadri Hazrat Ilyas, Safina-e-Shahid, Safina-e-Rizwan, Al Sohail and Turk Brothers.
