KARACHI: The Sindh Anti-Corruption and Enquiries Department, with an aim to motivate and acknowledge efforts of officials, is likely to give 20 percent of the recovered amount from the embezzled funds as ‘reward’ money, Daily Times has learnt. Sources said that the decision to this effect has been taken after the good performance by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), besides, the entire anti-corruption department functioning would be made online so that prompt progress should be made on the cases related to corruption in the government institutions and departments, sources added. Sources further said that anti Corruption and Enquiries Chairman Ghulam Qadir Thebo will brief the newly elected Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah about the proposal and it is expected that the proposed plan would be implemented very shortly. “The proposed plan is aimed at removing the impression that the anti-corruption department is not working properly, while NAB is doing well to contain the growing cases of corruption”, sources added. It is revealed that the Sindh Anti-Corruption Department has lost its credibility and the same was discussed in detail by all the directors, deputy directors with their chairman, whereas now the modern techniques would be followed to encourage and make credible the reputation of the anti-corruption department. Sources said that in order to streamline the functioning of the department, the chairman has proposed to divide the functioning into three categories including A, B and C. The cases involving millions of rupees would be placed in category A while the facts of the case would be kept secret until the investigation is completed, sources added.
