ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday had sought a written reply from police regarding its efforts for the recovery of a missing citizen from jurisdiction of Shalimar Police Station. A single member bench of IHC comprising of Justice Athar Minallah resumed the hearing of case filed by a woman Mahera seeking recovery of her husband and expressing doubt that he was abducted by security institutions. During the course of proceeding, Shalimar SHO admitted that the official vehicle was used in the incident and the department had written to the security departments to find any relevant details in this regard. The counsel for the petitioner, Imtiaz Haider informed the court that the security department s had not yet submitted their reply in the case. Expressing displeasure on this, the court directed the security institutions concerned to present their responsible officials before court regarding the case and adjourned hearing till August 23. In her petition, Mahera Sajid, a resident of sector F-10/1, had stated that she and her missing husband Sajid Mehmood were both engineers by profession and running a small software development firm called Quality Clix. Both are parents to three daughters. She said that on March 14 this year, her husband was held by the uniformed personals and police did not registered an FIR till intervention of the Commission of Inquiry on enforced disappearance to whom this matter had been reported by the detenee’s father. She said that despite the registration of FIR and Commission’s clear instructions to the respondents, no sincere and adequate efforts were being made for the recovery of Sajid.
