Actor/performer Mohib Mirza spoke exclusively to Daily Times about his upcoming rom-com ‘Teri Meri Love Story’ which, according to him, was a great experience altogether. The artist, who began his career with theatre in 1999 and worked in telefilms, drama serials and feature films, said, “I act with dedication and being a performer, I try to engage the audience and convince them through my acting skills. I am anxiously waiting for the release of ‘Teri Meri Love Story’ on September 2.” The film sees him in a leading role. ‘Teri Meri Love Story’ is pure entertainment, as it has all the commercial elements of being a hit, including drama, comedy, action and romance. Nothing is overdone in the film in terms of entertainment, as all the elements go along with the storyline, Mohib Mirza said. The film has a whole new cast, but there are some veterans, for instance Mirza’s co-actor Mohsin Abbas and director Jawad Bashir. The leading lady of the film, Ushna Shah, is sharing the screen with Mirza for the first time. Talking about his previous statement on surprises in the form of cameos, Mirza said, “There are no cameos in the film as such, but there might be a director acting in it, his name we haven’t revealed as yet.” When asked about the growth of the Pakistani film industry in the next 10 years, he was optimistic, saying that a lot of quality films were being produced, and the film industry was expanding, which was evident from the fact that every new mall was now including the facility of a cinema inside, in order to attract people towards films which were being produced nationally. “When I started working, my acting style was theatre-like and I was comfortable to act in one go, which is why I prefer working for telefilms and films rather than drama serials. ‘Teri Meri Love Story’ is my seventh and I love films more as a performer, as it drives me to push the limit. I might try my hand at production later if I feel that the current roles are limiting me, and also to show versatility in my acting,” Mirza said while speaking about his contribution to the Pakistani film industry. He also discussed his future endeavours like ‘Arth 2’ with Shaan Shahid and a few film scripts which have not yet been finalised. When asked if he could sing, he said, “If an individual does not have the sense of rhythm and beat, they would not be able to become an artist, whether it be a painter, writer, actor or a performer. I can train my vocal muscles for singing, and I know I can do it. So, yes! I can sing.” Superstar Mirza likes to watch films and TV series in his leisure time and has recently been watching a TV show called ‘Stranger Things’, which has him hooked. “I would like to work outside of the Pakistani industry as well, whether it be Hollywood, Iranian cinema or even the Turkish film industry. My focus would be on quality work and I’ll go for a script that would boost my image,” he said, while speaking of his aspirations. It remains to be seen if Mirza will be able to win his countless fans’ hearts all over again with his immaculate acting skills. ‘Teri Meri Love Story’ will hit screens nationwide on September 2. Wishing the young actor the very best for his upcoming endeavours.
