RAWALPINDI: Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) captain Fawad Khan’s 94-run blitz and slow left-arm bowler Asif Ali’s four-wicket haul powered their side to a 15-run win over Rawalpindi in the National Twenty20 Cup at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi here on Friday. FATA, who chose to bat after winning the toss, posted a decent total of 162 on the board for the loss of just two wickets. Fawad, who opened the innings with seasoned Yasir Hameed, faced just 51 balls for his 94-run knock, hammering eight sixes and seven boundaries before he was bowled by Sohail Tanvir. Yasir, whose catch was taken by Umar Amin, made 16. Mohammad Usman scored unbeaten 31 off 29. In reply, Rawalpindi could muster only 147 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Openers Mukhtar Ahmed and Awais Zia departed after scoring 18 and 23 runs, respectively. Zahid Mansoor (30) and Sohaild Tanvir (26) and Shadab Khan (17) were other main contributors. FATA’s slow left-arm bowler Asif took four wickets in his four overs, conceding just 20 runs at an economy rate of 5.00. Fawad was declared man-of-the-match award for his match winning performance.
