ISLAMABAD: The China Chowk underpass is posing a serious threat to the lives of innocent and poor pedestrians who want to cross the main road through it. The underpass does not have a foot path for the pedestrians who want to cross the road through this underpass.
Hundreds of people from the three union counsels of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: KP UC Barkot, UC Jabri, UC Muslimabad and almost 10 villages of Islamabad: Village Gokina, Village Telhar,Village Malwar, Village Sraa, Village Murad, Village Kotla, Saidpur Village use this underpass.
Also people from the mountains and other hill stations travel daily through this underpass and with the public transport and other vehicles running here at high speeds fatal accidents could be caused.
People said it was a serious negligence of the Capital Development Authority that it did not construct a track for the pedestrians. The people asked as to how they could cross the main road because the metro was running on the upper road hence they had to go through the underpass.
It is important to mention here that people from different villages use this underpass to go to the Poly Clinic Hospital for their treatment as well as for going to Melody Market, Aabpara Market and other places. They also demanded for an over bridge on the main metro road so that they could cross the main road.
Most of the people come to Islamabad to fulfil their daily needs because there are no markets, hospitals and other institutions on the mountains.
While talking to Daily Times these people said that they had many miseries back home but when they came here to the capital city they had to suffer a lot more and to cross the main road was one of their key problems.
They said that they used the underpass with children, women and old persons and it could prove to be very dangerous for them. They demanded a foot path for the pedestrians at the underpass.
