LAHORE: The All Pakistan Music Conference concluded on Saturday with a wonderful performance of 10-year-old Samia Meraj. The six-day long music conference included performances of folk, classical and semi classical music whereas more than 50 musicians and singers belonging to different musical families participated in the event. Students of various colleges and universities also performed and participated in the event. The conference was divided in four different categories including gharanay, music academies, below 10 years and educational institutions. In category of under 10, Javed Ahmed Qureshi Trophy for best school was grabbed by City School, New Muslim Town. Franciscan High School, Kot Lakhpat branch won the Raja Ghazanfar Ali Trophy in the category of students over the age of 10. The Roshan Ara Begum Shield for best classical vocalists was won by Samia Meraj whereas the Syed Wajid Ali Trophy was awarded to Punjab University. Alhamra Arts Academy won the Hayat Ahmed Khan Trophy. The concluding ceremony also included performances of winners of trophies. Talking exclusively to Daily Times, APMC General Secretary Ghazala Irfan was of the view that such kind of conferences can boost confidence of the talented people to perform fearlessly. She added that the purpose behind starting APMC was to provide a platform to talented youth. She added that such participation from all over the country meant that the young generation was thoroughly involved and in touch with their roots and talents.
