A day after ‘successful’ talks with the PML-Q, the government on Thursday claimed to have bridged differences with another ally – the Grand Democratic Alliance. A government team led by PTI leader Jahangir Tareen on Thursday held meeting with the GDA leadership and discussed reservations and demands of the coalition partner. The ruling party delegation also included Defence Minister Pervez Khattak and Shahzad Arbab. Dr Fehmida Mirza led the GDA delegation. Taking to Twitter after the meeting, Jahangir Tareen said the meeting with GDA leadership successfully concluded, and claimed that all the outstanding issues between GDA and the ruling PTI have been resolved. “P Khattak, Arbab S and I Just finished a very fruitful discussion with GDA delegation led by Dr Fahmida Mirza. There are no issues outstanding. GDA was, is and will remain a strong ally of PTI in our Coalition Govt. Together we will keep striving to build a new Pakistan,” he posted on his Twitter handle. Reports said the GDA delegation complained that the federal government was not releasing development funds and that the coalition partner was never taken into confidence over decisions related to Sindh, the political base of GDA. Earlier, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail held a meeting with Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi at his residence in Karachi, convincing him to allow time to address unresolved issues between PTI and the GDA. Meanwhile, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Thursday said all the rumours about a rift between PTI and its allied parties have died down, with reposing of full confidence by the latter in the leadership of Prime Minster Imran Khan. Talking to media after attending Chinese Spring Festival Gala in Islamabad, she said the prime minister during the PTI’s Core Committee meeting thanked the leadership of allied parties for supporting him in the larger national interest, continuity of democracy, and political and economic stability. He also announced to continue efforts for the resolution of people’s problems with the cooperation and consultation of the allied parties, she added. Dr Firdous said the core committee was also briefed about the third meeting of United Nations Security Council within few months on the Kashmir issue, which was put on the back burner in the past. She said the committee decided to observe February 5 as the solidarity day with Kashmiris with full fervour, both at the government and party levels, while an effective strategy will be adopted to highlight the issue at international level. She said the prime minister has approved the proposals of Legal Reform Committee for amendments in laws for resolution of the people’s problems. She hoped that the bench and bar will play their role in dispensation of speedy justice.
