CHITRAL: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has opened the first public park in Chitral Town here on Monday. The Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Abid Saeed, was the chief guest and formally inaugurated the park established at Lilank site. The park has been set up on the bank of the river. The district administration had completed the construction work of the park in a record time of just two months. The chief guest said that it was the first ever park which had been established in the district. He said that the need for the setting up of the park could be judged from the number of children who had come to the park. He directed the officials of the line departments to play their role in the provision of all the facilities at the park. The chief secretary vowed to play his role in resolving the problems and challenges being faced by the people of the remote mountainous district. The Deputy Commissioner, Usma Warraich, informed the audience about the importance and facilities provided at the park. He said that the administration would release Markhor and other wild species in the enclosure in the adjacent mountains to enhance the scenic beauty of the park and attract more people, particularly children. He said that park would be expanded to start training children in horse riding.
