Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Ahmed Buzdar has directed the departments concerned to curb price hike and control rising inflation in the province through practical measures. Buzdar said it is the government’s responsibility to provide maximum relief to its people. He said any excuses in this regard will no longer be tolerated. “I need results,” he asserted, while chairing a meeting here. Lashing out at the relevant departments, Buzdar said the relevant officials will be held accountable if visible measures are not undertaken to provide relief to the general public. “Go out in the field and take note of the prices of commodities rather than sitting in the offices all the day,” he said, adding that strict action should be taken against those responsible for creating an artificial inflation. Separately, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that 10 billion tree plantation program will be a game changer for a clean and green Pakistan. He stated this while talking to Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change Rukhsana Naveed who called on him in Lahore on Saturday. Buzdar said that the provincial government has set a target of planting 500 million saplings during five years to overcome pollution issue. He said that tree plantation program will not only improve the environment but will also lower the threats caused due to climatic changes. Meanwhile, on the direction of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, anti-land grabbing cells have been set up in all districts of the province in order to ensure prompt redressal of citizens’ complaints. The cells will be headed by grade-18 officers who will be responsible to get the complaints against illegal occupation of land verified immediately and take lawful cognizance of the complaint. All actions shall be carried out by the cell promptly to ensure immediate redressal of the complaints. According to the spokesman to the Punjab government, all administrative departments, autonomous bodies, development authorities and police department shall provide complete support to the district anti-land grabbing cell so that effective action could be taken against land mafia and grievances of the citizens could be addressed promptly. The spokesman said that all divisional commissioners shall submit a consolidated monthly report of the relevant districts on the prescribed format in the office of director complaints, Chief Minister’s Office Lahore. The spokesman further said that in order to oversee and monitor the district-based cells, a provincial anti-land grabbing cell has also been established at the Chief Minister’s Office. Director Complaints CM Office will be the focal person of the cell.
