When the biggest stars come out to showstop

Published on: November 27, 2016 5:34 AM

LAHORE: The second day of the QMobile Hum Bridal Couture Week 2016, was held at a local hotel on Saturday. A total number of eight couturiers showcased their bridal collections, opting for stellar showstoppers, much to the audience’s delight.

Arsalan Iqbal

Arsalan Iqbal opened Day 2 with his collection titled Dhanak. A lot of thought, technique and artwork seemed to have gone into creating the beautiful pieces, all weaved on a custom jacquard loom. There was little to zero embroidery and embellishments for the menswear. The colourful womenswear stood out for their exquisite lehngas. All the menswear were in shades of gold with an attempt to change ages old groom’s sherwani trend. Designer Munib Nawaz and actor Mohib Mirza showstopped for Arsalan.

Anees Malik

Next up was Anees Malik with his jewellery collection showcase, titled Paheli. The collection was an innovative collaboration conceptualised by Anisa Kiyani. We loved the lavish golds and the use of real and precious stones fused with the traditional look. From the prominent matha pattis to the chunky earrings, Anees stood out for a jewellery collection that was truly distinct.

Charcoal

Charcoal displayed their menswear collection next which was modern, sophisticated and very cohesive, featuring dapper looks for men and classy tuxedos. Top model Emmad Irfani showstopped for Charcoal wearing a black suit and bow tie.

Shazia Kiyani

Shazia Kiyani displayed her collection next titled Mashal-e-Rukhsar. The bridal collection was a mix of traditional and modern Persian architect, paintings of the Pahalvi period with gold, ivory, red and blue colour mix. Indeed, a perfect blend for this wedding season.

Erum Khan

Erum Khan closed Act 1 of Day 2 with her collection titled Nawabzadi. We loved how the collection varied between bold to subtle and pastel to dark. Heavily-embroidered lehngas were paired with minimal embellished cholis. Singer Aima Baig and actress Saba Qamar showstopped for the designer. Saba looked radiant in a traditional red ensemble with statement embroidery.

Chinyere

Chinyere opened Act 2 of Day 2 with their collection titled Husn-e-Jana. We loved the pastels, the brights and the cheery outfits. A colour palette that could have been mistaken for being almost neon, Chinyere’s bridal collection stood out for its contrasts and heavily-embroidered lehngas other than the colour palette.

Hina Butt

Hina Butt showcased next with jewellery by Raema Malik. The collection titled Ladli Begum stood out for its intricacy as well as the detailing on the outfits. Inspired by Mughal heritage, the collection was a rich contrast of metallic shades to bold reds. It featured maxi dresses, farshi ghararas and vintage shararas. Sadia Khan showstopped for the designer.

Munib Nawaz

Munib Nawaz closed Day 2 with his collection titled Moonlight Romanticism which was a tribute to romance and the glamour of glory days. Dressed to perfection, Jana Malik, Nauman Javed, Noor Bukhari, Usman Khalid Butt and Muammar Rana showstopped for the designer.
